HARLEQUIN KERRYOR

HARLEQUIN KERRYOR

HARLEQUIN KERRYOR

was bought in 1992 as a horse to go out hacking and to compete in Endurance Rides. He was soon spotted by Christine, who suggested that he should be shown.

Harley has received many labels during his showing career: traditional, vanner, gypsy cob, native, all before coloured horses were cool and before they were correctly categorised. He has shown what can be achieved from fun, hard work & support – attending the Royal International every year except one and HOYS 5 times in a row.  He was invited to take part in ‘All the Queen’s Horses’ and has also featured on television helping a rider who had broken her back fight her nerves and get back in the saddle.

He has shared in how intense coloured showing has become, but always performs with his trademark presence, whether he is schooling at home, in front of a few pupils or winning a championship class.

He has stayed in the red rosettes as the professional competition has challenged him and has never travelled home without at least one red ribbon in a remarkable, record, 16 consecutive years, ridden at the BSPA national championships! And at the age of 21 was crowned Reserve Supreme Horse of the Year at the BSPA Championships!

The harshest judges constantly place him, expressing dismay at the fact that he is a Gelding but Harley has created more than mere progeny, he has created a lifetime of aspiration and ambition for young amateurs and seasoned pro’s alike, and no modern stallion could hope to have generated this much goodwill in a lifetime

For a few years Debbie and Chris have thought they would face the inevitable and were ready to retire him when HE had had enough, but that hasn’t happened as yet! But having worn out 4 lorries, 3 saddles and wardrobes of clothing, the time has come – lets face it-can his show team keep up anymore????

Harley would like to thank all his supporters over the past 18 years and would like to invite everyone to join his Facebook page ‘Harlequin Kerryor’ to keep in touch and to find out how he is doing at the local shows.

Lets watch him leave the ring from top class showing as we have watched him come in for 18 years….displaying his utter verve, sharing his confidence, showing we can all do it, and infecting us with his sheer joy.,   ..All hoping we can follow the path he has created—–GO HARLEY xxx
